Life, Work & Love

I’ve never really been good at life. My work ethic is pretty darn good, given it’s work that’s paid for… And love is and always will be what it is; some of the best and possibly some of the worse times of your life.

Lately I’ve felt that I sorta hit a crossroad. Do I continue forward, turn left, make a right, or shit, make a “u” turn all together.

There are also times when I’m full force. I have this “fuck this” attitude where I feel like I’m going to give it my all regardless of the return. Then there’s times when I’m perfectly fine watching my DVR’d shows and engulfing myself in lives I wish I had; The rich, the sexy, the intelligent, the funny and the sometimes humbling lives.

Gosh, I sound pathetic. Ok well, maybe it’s not all that dramatic, but to some extent there lies a pocket of truth.

Something is missing and I’ve concluded it’s missing in life and/or work. It was easy for me to point fingers at love and say something was missing there… It was easy to be mad at love because in love, there’s always two to blame. But really, the void isn’t in that segment of my life and it was hard to realize that because my life is what I make of it, not anybody else. The blame is solely on me.

Life is random. Things come, things go. It’s what I do with that randominity that makes me who I am and for awhile I think I’ve forgotten that.

Life, work & love. You live life to find out how it works and on the way, you find love.

40d and 85mm f1.8 Test

After a pretty awful weekend, I finally had some time to try this out. All images taken at f1.8, 800iso with the exception of the second and third image which is at 400iso. Obviously at small resolution, this is not meant to show you the amazingly low levels of noise. Instead, its to show the capability of this lens in low lighting situations is just damn good.

Canon’s best bang for your buck lens:

5d + 16-35L f2.8

The photography manager at work let me take the 5d home for the weekend for a test drive. I’m in the market for a full frame camera and after shooting with it for about an hour, I’m pretty much sold. Taking images feels so much more like home to me for some reason.

It feels more mechanical and raw, rather than digital. Currently, I own a 40d, but that’s going to change real soon! Actually, I’ll probably keep my 40d as a back up and get the 5d mkII when it comes out. I just need to somehow come up with $2,700.

Anyway, here are the initial images I took.

Wedding Next Week

Scoped out a wedding spot for next week. The area is ok, nothing spectacular so we’ll have to work it out. Should be a good day!

16-35mm F2.8 II Lens

I love my new lens. Haven’t had time to take it out in the real world, but Cargo seems to love it.

Now all I need is the new Canon 5d mkII :)

Upload Responsibly

TrekStor’s sweet new usb stick. Looks like something we could definitely utilize at work.

Portfolio Redesign

After a long weekend of work… I finally redesigned 5byseven.com. Never worked with slide shows before so it took awhile to configure with lots of help from google. I’m happy with it. It’s much more clean than the previous design and I think a bit easier to navigate. Content is still pretty low, but more to come soon. For now, take a peak!

P.S. There’s music in the intro slide show.

Last Day of Labor Day Weekend

I finally had the chance to get out of the house this weekend since I’ve been feeling really tired and out of it. Mark and I drove our vespas to La Jolla Shores.

We started out with some sample beers at Karl Strauss

Then we parked along the cliffs

And just sat for awhile as we people watched and looked out into the ocean

Also posed for some pics

kinda sad I didn’t get to really enjoy the weekend, but looking forward to a business trip to Vegas I have coming up on Wednesday.
