Spaghetti with Mussels & Spinach Recipe

I haven’t cooked a new dish in awhile and wanted to try out this recipe I save on my BigOven account. To my surprise, it came out really really good so I had to take a few snaps.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 tablespoons Butter
1 cup Onion finely chopped
2 cloves Garlic minced
1 Bay leaf
2 cups Tomato diced
1/2 teaspoons Salt
1 package Fresh spinach – 10 ounces
1/2 cup White wine
2 pounds Mussels
1/2 pounds Spaghetti uncooked

** Serving is for about 4 people

Prep and cooking is really simple. I just took this from BigOven:

Scrub mussels and remove beards.

Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion, garlic and bay leaf and saute for about 3 minutes. Add tomato, salt and spinach – cover and cook for 4 minutes, stirring once. Add wine and mussels and bring to a boil. Cover and cook until mussels open (about 5 minutes). Discard any mussels that don’t open. Stir to combine tomato/spinach sauce with mussels.

Meanwhile, prepare spaghetti according to package directions. Serve mussels and sauce over spaghetti. Serve with a bit of fresh grated parmesan.

Fonts Fonts Fonts

I’m a typography junky. If I could show you my emotion through type, you’d probably get a better idea of how I really feel. I’ve uploaded a few of my favorite fonts below along with ways to use them in order to show variation. These are in no particular order and you’ll find the download link of a zip file at the end of the post.

Alte Haas Grotesk. I love the boldness of this font. If you want to say something loud and show it literally, this is the font for you.

Delicious. This is one of those fonts that you can use small caps, ALL CAPS, bold, italicized, tight kearning, etc., all in one design and it would still look fabulous. One of my all-time favorites for sure.

Pointy. When you want to get the point across without being so serious.

Inconsolata. Sometimes design asks for a lot of copy. Sometimes you don’t have room for that copy yet the client doesn’t care. This is a good font for sticking a lot of unnecessary copy in a tight space. I also like this font for grid style layouts because it has a typewriter kinda vibe to it without being called typewriter.

Brian Scratch. Maybe I’m a little bias, but when I need something to look handwritten, I tend to use this font because it reminds me of the Stephen Sprouse and Louis Vuitton collaboration print.

Footlight MT Light. Sometimes you just need a good quality serif font with a little bit of kick.

Yanone. I find this font to be just really clean and nicely done.

Henry Morgan Hand. & of course, those times you want/need to be all fancy…
